Wow! Congratulations! That's most important, you and your new husband are all that matter. I know you want them there, probably esp your mom. Don't let them ruin or dictate anything that you want, focus on the love that will be there among other family and friends, not on the love that won't.

Aw, so sorry mmo. I'm there with you too. We gotta just keep doing our thing: work, friends, husband. Also, it helped me so much to read other people's experiences here, there are sooooo many people who are dealing with the same thing.
Someone already mentioned the grieving process, it might help you to brush up on that; IT IS like they've died, you will come to accept that nothing will undo this, making it like death, that's how snug the mind control is. I had to accept that they're gone, but like many grieving survivors, we write to them now and again to convey our feelings, these letters are not read because the recipient is gone, obv not a physical death but it might as well be!
Take the time when you can to read as many posts here on this. I just posted in the last week a letter I wrote to my parents after not communicating in well over a year, it's hard. But the support you get here is priceless, personally saved me from from feeling totally shitty.

What a waste of space these responses are from people who have forgotten why they're here. I'm starting to think that the people who make the accusations and won't let them go are JW spies, some bored f*cking moron bethelite jacking off and posting bullsh*t to create distrust here. That's the real battle they'll win against us, to make this place no longer a place of support.
Screw you guys.

Husband talking about having kids, reading awake to me, keeps asking ???
by cognac inso, first he calls me at work, we've been getting along fine, and asks me the % of how much i want to be in the truth.
i told him 50/50.
i like the spiritual aspect of it, the people, etc.

My husband and I have long deep conversations, but not about the bible or any religion, but rather our goals, our wants, etc. If religion was a requirement for these special times, I'd pass.

I think I just became an unbaptized bible study student apostate
by AddaGirl ini had some major questions regarding 607 bce which directly affect the doctrine of 1914. my teacher, admitting being weak on history, could not answer my questions.
i started researching and found that the appropriate dates for the "seventy years" were appearing to be 609 bce to 539 bce, the ruling period of babylon.
this meant that everything i was being taught based on 1914 was in effect, a lie.

Wow, good for you! That's some research. When I taught people that stuff, I used jw literature-it says that the one date that bible, science, achaeology and everyone KNOWS is certain is 537--a 'pivotal date'. That's as deep as I went in 11 years of pioneering.
It blows my mind: they tell you to study, but then when you do and find out they're a lie they run!

did anyone on here ever have a paedophile in thier congregation?
by looloo inif so, did it bother you that he had been reprooved and forgiven rather than reported to the police?

Yes, old Glenn Palm cong, in Glendale AZ, where I grew up there was a 20ish year old fellow, he was disassociated (this is in the early 80's) for, as my friend put it, 'doing things to little kids with his fingers'. . .
The week following, Elder Rosenberg started a local needs part with the words: Parents, teach your children to keep their pants on!!! And the rest, I don't remember, because, my brother was DA'd right before that part during the announcements--our family sat there in horror, certain that people thought my brother was DA'd for abusing a child. . .
The offender's name was Vernon. Anyone know him?

New Bethel layoffs confirmed - we get our very own "special" pioneers!
by sir82 inhighlights from a recent letter addressed to our boe:.
-- a married couple is leaving bethel, assigned to serve in our congregation as special pioneers.
-- the society will pay them $600 per month, and in addition cover their health insurance .

Yikes. And good point Honesty. How long will this arrangement go on? WHat if health probs prevent them from 130 hrs pm, will they lose their pay and status? What if they turn 80 and get frail, are they on their own then? This reaks of cruelty to humans! How dumb are they is right, but it's also so sad.

Hi dear. It'll all be ok, I promise.
So, a little girl is sad one day in school, her teacher asks her what's wrong. She says, I'm sad because my grandpa died and I wanted to tell him I loved him one more time but I couldn't, but I suppose I'll have to wait until I get to heaven to tell him. Her teacher says, That's very nice, but what if he went to hell? The little girl (not missing a beat) says, Then you can tell him for me!!
btw, I've missed any recent drama, and it's all good, I'm soooo ok with missing out on more crap and accusations and I DON'T want to be updated!!!
